Our story
Bower Group, based at the Ongar Business Centre, is a national, multi-award-winning financial services group.
Through Bower Wealth, our independent financial advisers help individuals and business owners plan for the future, with advice on pensions, investments, protection, and long-term financial planning.
Through Bower Home Finance, we advise on mortgages and, for homeowners over 55, on equity release. Because we are independent, every option is explored, and our advice is always built around what is right for each client, with dedicated support and clear updates throughout. Bower was founded in 2006, advising on mortgages and protection, and later expanding into equity release. In 2011, the company made the Ongar Business Centre its home, and as the business and the market have grown, Bower has become a full financial services group, bringing wealth planning and home finance together under one roof.
Chief Executive Geoff Charles grew up just fifteen minutes away, in the village of Havering-atte-Bower. The word bower can mean shelter or protection, which is exactly what the group aims to provide for its clients. Being so close to where it all began, the Ongar Business Centre was a natural home.
A growing group
Today Bower brings together a large head office team and advisers across the country. The group includes Bower Wealth, our independent financial planning arm, Bower Home Finance for mortgages and equity release, and Bower Private Clients for those with more complex needs. Together they allow us to support clients at every stage of their financial life, from building and protecting wealth to planning for later life.

As the group has grown, we have supported the local community, organised charity events, and created many jobs in the area, and we are proud to support the Saint Francis Hospice.
About the Ongar Business Centre
The Ongar Business Centre (OBC) is a business incubation space in Ongar. It offers a range of accessible office spaces and conference rooms to provide supportive and conducive environments for start-ups and early stage businesses growing their businesses.
Hundreds of individuals, start-ups and early-stage businesses have taken their first steps on the road to success at OBC. The Ongar Business Centre aims to support and promote entrepreneurship, particularly with companies who incorporate elements of innovation in their business.
